ALONG COMES I

  • Ghent, NY United States (map)

How, if at all, can we play our selves, in a world that seems to demand such serious attention?

What happens to our self, or selves, when we open to the beauty of forgetting, the wonder of being lost or the inspiration of giving up?

What do our contradictory selves have to teach us? What can we learn by talking to ourselves and how, if at all, is it possible to break our own rules?

In this workshop, we may cast ourselves in many roles, then shed as many as we play. The conundrum of performing – on stage and in life – may start to seem as silly, as puzzling, as summer snow.

Note : This approach to clowning is not about tricks or routines, or even being happy. It is a journey of heart - all are welcome!!!

Whether you are coming for the first time, or returning for more - all are welcome!

The group is limited to 12.

Facilitator:  Sarah French

Sarah French

For as long as she remembers, Sarah has been interested in how people play. She had set out as a practicing psychotherapist when she stumbled into the paradoxical world of Clown, which set her on an enlivening path, despite her hesitations and fears. She has collaborated with Vivian Gladwell of Nose to Nose since 2012. Sarah considers that she has many teachers, including the spinner dolphins of Hawaii, who are the clowns of the sea.

In 2021, Sarah founded Fool Tree, a small center for the playful arts in Ghent, NY, where she continues to facilitate clowning workshops & community events.
